This special event is all about community, connection, and fun, providing a space where everyone can socialize, enjoy great company, and create lifelong friendships. What to Expect: Relaxed and inclusive atmosphere Music, games, and light entertainment Opportunities to meet new people and connect with old friends Who Can Attend? This event is designed for adults (16+) with disabilities. Participants must register in advance. Caregivers, family members, and friends are welcome to attend and provide support, but please note that seating is limited. We’ll prioritize space for registered participants. Staff will be available to run the event, but we cannot provide one-on-one assistance. More Than The Event! Thursday Night Social is a place where adults with disabilities can feel a sense of freedom, belonging, and community. 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM	Chess - Chess Winter 2026 Session Chess Wizards is a premier chess education company providing fun, informative and challenging chess lessons to students. Chess Wizards teaches children many important life concepts, such as learning the ability to win graciously and accept defeat with dignity and sportsmanship. Students will be divided into groups according to their chess experience. At the end of this session, each student will have had the chance to participate in a mini-chess tournament.

Pickleball is attractive because it is easy to play at any age or skill level and requires minimal instruction to be able to play a game and have fun. Unless reserved by the recreation department to run pickleball classes, the Lyman street pickleball courts are always open for public use.

4:30 PM - 5:15 PM	Creative Drama - Creative Drama Big Kid Creative Drama is a high-energy, imaginative, and super fun theater experience designed specifically for children ages 6 to 8. Through silly, zany, and engaging activities, students explore movement, emotions, and storytelling in a playful and supportive environment. This program focuses on social-emotional learning, helping children build confidence, empathy, social awareness, and problem-solving skills. Each class also includes a literacy component and is aligned with state standards for Theater Education. It’s the perfect way for big kids to grow their creativity and have a blast!
7:30 PM - 9:30 PM	Volleyball, Adult (co-ed) - Adult Volleyball - Session 2 Join this super fun, relaxed group as they play pick-up style volleyball.  All skill levels welcome to play, even if you’ve never played.  If schools are closed due to inclement weather, program will be cancelled.

Projects range from paper plate animals and handprint art to colorful collages and sensory-friendly crafts. 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM	Special Olympics Massachusetts: Unified Sports - Wallabies Basketball VOLUNTEER For over 25 years the Westborough Recreation Department has supported the Westborough Wallabies, a program of the Massachusetts Special Olympics/Unified Sports.  Westborough currently offers Soccer and Dance/Exercise in the fall, Basketball in the winter and Swim in the spring.  Westborough Unified Sports is open to people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities ages 7 and up ("athletes") -- and to volunteer “partners” ages 12 and up who want to support the athletes learning the sports.   Each season runs 8-12 weeks, with weekly practices and the possibility of competing against other towns. The formation of teams depends on the number of athletes available in each age group.  There is no cost to participants, thanks to the long-standing generosity of the Westborough Civic Club and the Westborough Athletic and Social Association (WASA), among other donors.
1:30 PM - 2:15 PM	Basketball: Youth 2025-2026 - Grade 1 & 2 CO-ED (1:30 PM) SESSION 2 Programs are offered for Grades Pre-K-12, boys and girls.  Travel players are encouraged to play Rec basketball as well. Slight variations between each program are listed below.  Registration for all basketball programs will open Monday September 8th at 9am. Some programs may fill!  Volunteer coaches are ESSENTIAL to this program, please consider coaching your child's team. We can help you with practice plans and game management.  In case of inclement weather, all cancellations will be posted on www.westbororec.com. If school is cancelled, rec basketball will be cancelled! Westborough residents only.
