Programs are offered for Grades Pre-K-12, boys and girls.  Travel players are encouraged to play Rec basketball as well. Slight  variations between each program are listed below. 

Registration for all basketball programs will open Monday September 16th at 9am. Some programs may fill! 

Volunteer coaches are ESSENTIAL to this program, please consider coaching your childs team. We can help you with practice plans and game management.  

In case of inclement weather, all cancellations will be posted on www.westbororec.com.

If school is cancelled, rec basketball will be cancelled!

Pre - K / K basketball details
  • This co-ed program is a chance to learn the basics of the game thru dribbling, passing, and shooting drills. Limited spots available. Program will be run by F.A.S.T. Athletics
  • Saturdays, 11/2-12/7 or 1/4-2/1, choose one
  • Choose 1 time
  • 9am, 10am, 11am
  • Westborough Community Center - 1500 Union Street, 2nd Floor. Use the side entrance.
  • $95

1st & 2nd Grade Basketball
  • 1st/2nd Grade Skills Clinic and Games: Separate leagues for boys and girls. This is an 8-week program. There will be 2 weeks of clinic style skills and drills, one week of scrimmages, and 5 weeks of game-play (4v4). Volunteer Coaches needed. Team t-shirt included.
  • Saturdays, 1/4-2/15
  • Girls: 10:00am-10:50am
  • Boys: 11:00am-11:50am, 12:00pm-12:50pm
  • Teams will be created after two weeks of practice
  • Armstrong Gym, Choose 1 time
  • $105
  • Deadline to register: Friday December 13th at 10am

Grade 3-6 Information
  • Must register by November 1st at 10am; NO EXCEPTIONS
  • Players will be divided into teams at a preseason coaches meeting. You will be notified about team placement after that meeting. Weekly practices will start the week of November 11th. Games start the first weekend in December.
  • Grade 3/4 boys teams will practice on Monday or Thursday nights and play games on Saturdays between 8am-12pm @ Mill Pond. PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THE PRACTICE AND GAME DAY. THIS IS NOT FLEXIBLE.
  • Grade 5/6 boys teams will practice on Monday or Thursday nights and play games on Saturdays between 12pm-4pm @ Mill Pond. PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THE PRACTICE AND GAME DAY. THIS IS NOT FLEXIBLE.
  • Grade 3/4 girls teams will practice on Tuesday nights and play games on Friday nights between 6pm-8pm @ the Community Center. PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THE PRACTICE AND GAME DAY. THIS IS NOT FLEXIBLE.
  • Grade 5/6 girls teams will practice on Tuesday nights and play games on FRIDAY nights between 6pm-8pm @ Armstrong PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THE PRACTICE AND GAME DAY. THIS IS NOT FLEXIBLE.
  • PLEASE NOTE THE PRACTICE NIGHT AND GAME DAY FOR YOUR CHILD. PRACTICE NIGHTS ARE SET AND CAN NOT BE CHANGED BASED ON PREFERENCE.

Boys Grade 7th-8th Info
  • Boys Grades 7-8 : Separate boys and girls teams, for players not on the middle school team.
  • Grade 7/8 boys teams will practice once a week and play games on Saturdays between 8am-2pm @ Gibbons Middle School

Girls grade 7th-9th Information
  • Girls Grades 7-9 : In an attempt to help with program numbers we are opening up the middle school girls program to 9th graders. We would like to bring this program back and play 'in-town' only. We need at the very least 32 players to make this happen.
  • One practice and one game per week. Games will be held Saturday afternoons between 2:00pm-4:00pm.
  • Practices: Friday nights between 6pm-8pm.
  • $120
  • Volunteer coaches needed!

Boys Grade 9th-12th Information
  • Grades 9—12 : One of the most exciting leagues in Westborough! Last year 12 boys teams battled for the title!
  • One practice/one game per week, practice night and time TBD.
  • Must register by December 1st at 10am; ONLY exceptions are those who are cut from school team.
  • Practices will start the week of December 16th, games will start January 4th 2025.
  • Games will be held Sundays between 9am-2pm. @ WHS
  • $120
  • VOLUNTEER COACHES NEEDED!

High School Girls
  • Pick up style play for girls in grades 9-12.

VOLUNTEERS
  • We need volunteer coaches, please indicate that you are interested in coaching in the text box at registration.
  • No need to have extensive basketball experience, especially at the elementary school level. Rec basketball is about FUN, getting kids excited about the game, socializing with friends, and learning the basic fundamentals.
  • We can help you with practice plans and substitution rotations (although the playing time rule at the elementary school level, makes subbing really easy!!)
  • New this year - we will also be looking for volunteers to run the clocks at elementary school games, perfect opportunity for older siblings or high school age kids looking for volunteer hours. E-mail Josh at japonte@westboroughma.gov
