Programs are offered for Grades Pre-K-12, boys and girls.  Travel players are encouraged to play Rec basketball as well. Slight variations between each program are listed below. 

Registration for all basketball programs will open Monday September 8th at 9am. Some programs may fill! 

Volunteer coaches are ESSENTIAL to this program, please consider coaching your child's team. We can help you with practice plans and game management.  

In case of inclement weather, all cancellations will be posted on www.westbororec.com.

If school is cancelled, rec basketball will be cancelled!
 
Westborough residents only.  

Pre-K / K
  • Pre-K and Kindergarten: This co-ed program is a chance to learn the basics of the game through dribbling, passing, and shooting drills. Limited spots available. Program will be run by F.A.S.T. Athletics
  • Saturdays, 11/1-12/6 or 1/3-2/7
  • Choose 1 time
  • 9:00am, 10:00am, 11:00am

  • $100

1st/2nd Grade
  • Dates: Saturdays, 11/1-12/20, skip 11/15 + 11/29 or 1/3 - 2/7
  • Time: 12:30 / 1:30 / 2:30 (Choose 1)
  • Location: Community Center 1500 Union Street, suite 201
  • Cost: $100
  • Format: Co-Ed Clinic run by FAST Athletics. Program designed to build basic basketball skills through fun games and drills.

Grades 3-6
  • Separate boys and girls teams.
  • All in-town play.
  • One practice/one game per week. Practices days will be determined after teams are made.
  • Travel players encouraged to play!
  • $130
  • Deadline to register: Friday October 31st at 10am
  • Girls grades 5th, 6th, 7th will play together. **Games will begin in January

Boys Grade 7th-8th
  • Boys Grades 7-8 : Children who make the middle school basketball team are not eligible.
  • Grade 7/8 boys teams will practice once a week and play games on Saturdays between 9am-12pm @ Gibbons Middle School
  • $130
  • Must register by December 5th at 10am; only exception is those who are cut from school team.
  • Practices will start the week of December 8th, games will start January 10th 2026.
  • Volunteer coaches needed!

Boys Grade 9th-12th
  • Grades 9—12 : One of the most exciting leagues in Westborough! Last year 12 boys teams battled for the title!
  • One practice/one game per week, practice night and time TBD.
  • Must register by December 5th at 10am; ONLY exceptions are those who are cut from school team.
  • Teams will be drafted the week of the 8th.
  • Practices will start the week of December 15th
  • Games will start January 11th 2026.
  • Games will be held Sundays between 9am-2pm. @ WHS
  • $130
  • VOLUNTEER COACHES NEEDED!

VOLUNTEERS
  • We need volunteer coaches, please indicate that you are interested in coaching in the text box at registration.
  • No need to have extensive basketball experience, especially at the elementary school level. Rec basketball is about FUN, getting kids excited about the game, socializing with friends, and learning the basic fundamentals.
  • We can help you with practice plans and substitution rotations (although the playing time rule at the elementary school level, makes subbing really easy!!)
  • New this year - we will also be looking for volunteers to run the clocks at elementary school games, perfect opportunity for older siblings or high school age kids looking for volunteer hours. E-mail Josh at japonte@westboroughma.gov

Rec Basketball Evaluation
  • THIS IS NOT A TRYOUT! EVERYONE SIGNED UP BY THE DEADLINE WILL BE PUT ON A TEAM!
  • In order to create fair and balanced team we will be holding short skill evaluations. Please make every effort to attend these important sessions. There is no additional charge for these.
  • Saturday November 1st
  • Grade 3 boys: 9:00am-9:30am
  • Grade 4 boys: 9:45am-10:15am
  • Grade 5 boys: 10:30am-11:00am
  • Grade 6 boys: 11:15am-11:45am
  • Grade 3 and 4 girls: 12:00pm-12:30pm
  • Grade 5, 6, and 7 girls: 12:45pm-1:15pm
  • Saturday December 6th
  • Grade 7 boys: 9:00am-9:30am
  • Grade 8 boys: 9:45am-10:15am
