Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in the country and the demand to learn the sport is growing in New England. Pickleball is attractive because it is easy to play at any age or skill level and requires minimal instruction to be able to play a game and have fun.
Unless reserved by the recreation department to run pickleball classes, the Lyman street pickleball courts are always open for public use.
Pickleball Lessons with Caryn
- Beginner pickleball lessons with Caryn Laflamme. Caryn is an IPTPA Level 1 pickelball instructor.

- PLEASE NOTE TO ENROLL IN ADVANCED BEGINNER YOU MUST ALREADY KNOW THE BASICS FO THE GAME, INCLUDING THE RULES AND HOW TO KEEP SCORE. IT WILL BE A DEEPER DIVE INTO PROPER MECHANCIS AND USAGE OF BASIC SHOTS, INCLUDING THE DINK, SERVES, RETURN OF SERVES, AS WELL AS A BASIC INTRODUCTION INTO OTHER SHOTS SUCH AS THE DROP SHOT, DRIVES, BLOCKS AND VOLLEYS

Intermediate Pickleball Class Description
- • A solid understanding of the game, including rules, scoring, and basic strategies.
- • Consistent Serve & Return: Ability to place serves and returns deep.
- • Dinking: Controlled soft shots at the kitchen line.
- • Volleying: Quick reflexes and hand-eye coordination at the net.
- • Third Shot Drop: A soft shot landing in the kitchen to transition to the net.
- • Strategic Shot Selection: Knowing when to drive, lob, or dink.
- • Footwork & Positioning: Staying balanced and moving efficiently.
- • Communication: Essential for doubles play.
Advanced Beginner Description
- This clinic is for those who have already learned the basics of the game, including the rules and how to keep score. It will be a deeper dive into the proper mechanics and usage of the basic shots, including the dink, serves, return of serves, as well as a basic introduction into other shots, such as the drop shot, drives, blocks and volleys. This clinic will also cover basic court coverage and partner strategy.
