Programs are offered for Grades Pre-K-12, boys and girls.  Travel players are encouraged to play Rec basketball as well. Slight  variations between each program are listed below.  Registration for all basketball programs will open Tuesday, Sept 7th at 8am. Some programs may fill!  Westboro Rec is always looking for volunteer coaches.  Please let us know if you’re interested when filling out the online registration. Chess Wizards is a premier chess education company providing fun, informative and challenging chess lessons to students. Chess Wizards teaches children many important life concepts, such as learning the ability to win graciously and accept defeat with dignity and sportsmanship. Students will be divided into groups according to their chess experience. At the end of this session, each student will have had the chance to participate in a mini-chess tournament.

Offering a wide range of stimulating topics, kids have fun as they learn.  Wicked Cool enrichment programs support national standarts in math, technology, science, and art.

Keep in Shape, Meet new Friends, Have some Fun at our men's pickup basketball program. This program is not a league, but pick up play. All skill levels and new players welcome. All equipment is provided. Times may vary throughout the year dependent on school & youth activities in the gyms. RESIDENCY: Only current full time residents of Westboro are eligible to participate. You are NOT considered a resident if you formerly lived in Westborough, your parents/relatives live here, you work here or you’re staying/living at a relative/friend’s house. In all of these cases, you are not eligible for our programs. Anyone found to be using another person’s address will be dropped immediately from our program and will receive NO REFUND. GRANDFATHER RULE: Grandfathering refers to a player/ participant (town resident) who moves out of Westboro but has met certain residency requirements to keep him/ her eligible to participate in a Recreation Department Adult Drop In Program.

Come have a (dodge) ball with Thundercat Sports!  Gator skin safety balls will be used to ensure safety and fun.  This program will consist of different dodge ball related games such as:  Doctor, Bombardment, Jail Break and more.  Other games/activities may be mixed in to create a fun and exciting program!   Clinic is coed, please bring sneakers, appropriate clothing, and a water bottle.   For more information please visit http://www.thundercatsports.com

6:30 PM - 8:00 PM    Social Skills and Dining Etiquette - Children's Dining Etiquette- Prep for the Holidays 2
Present your child with the opportunity to feel self-reliant and confident in any social and dining situation by taking interactive lessons taught by a certified etiquette consultant. Our program is designed to teach children how to conduct themselves on the dining table in a restaurant, at home and when meeting new people. Teaching children proper social and dining skills helps them succeed at school, socially, and later, professionally.  Topics include: The importance of greeting others, rules of introduction, the handshake, eye contact, and the power of a smile, self-respect and respect for others, proper telephone etiquette, hygiene and appearance, writing thank you notes, sportsmanship etiquette, how to sit at the table, understanding place settings, different dining styles including American and Continental, appropriate table conversation, what to do with unwanted food, interacting with servers and much more. These skills will help your child to be confident, polished and polite. Some food items will be served during class so that the children can practice what they learn. 2:45 PM - 7:45 PM    Ski & Snowboard Program at Wachusett Mountain - Wachusett Ski & Board (Transportation Only)
Lessons and open skiing or snowboarding. Held at Wachusett Mountain in Princeton, MA. Tuesdays from 3:00-7:45pm.  Transportation is by motor coach bus, providing underneath storage for those bringing their own equipment. We depart Gibbons Middle School by 3:00pm and stop at Westborough High School for pick up and depart the High School by approx. 3:15pm. We arrive back at Gibbons Middle School by 7:45pm - Drop off is ONLY at Gibbons Middle School! Online Registration Starts Monday, Nov. 1st at 8:00am.  This is a very popular program and will fill!  Important Registration Information: You are only registering and paying for a bus trip through Westborough Recreation.  After registering with us, you must pay online at www.wachusett.com/schoolgroups  for lift ticket, lessons and/or rentals. USE CODE WSBRChaperones: Chaperones are necessary in order for this program to run. Please consider helping! Chaperones will receive a FREE Lift Badge, Rentals (if needed) and Lessons for the evening they chaperone.  For those that Chaperon 3 or more weeks, Wachusett Mtn offers Two FREE ski/ride weekends to say thank you for helping. There is one in December and the other in March.  For additional information please contact our office, or register as a chaperone below. Refunds: Once registered, there are NO CASH REFUNDS.  To withdraw from the program, you must present your student badge along with your request in writing to Wachusett Mtn Group Sales. You will be issued a transferable credit on sessions not attended. There is a $10 clerical fee for changes made after the application is received by Wachusett.  Requests for bus refunds (less $25) can be done through the Rec. Dept. Bus refunds not available for missed lessons or within one week of program startAbsences:  If you miss a week, you will be given a transferable $18 credit valid during the 2021-22 season to be used for lift tickets, equipment rental or lessons.Cancellations due to weather conditions:  cancellations of sessions may cause the program to run past February Vacation. Make-ups are not held during the vacation week. Extra days will be scheduled if a session has to be cancelled. If we cancel (due to weather) and Wachusett is open, the make ups for that session may not include lessons. If Wachusett Mountain cannot meet their obligation, transferable credit memos for use at Wachusett will be given based on a per day cost. PARTICIPANTS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO BRING SKI/BOARD EQUIPMENT ON THE SCHOOL BUS IN THE MORNING. Details on where equipment will be stored for Middle School have not been clarified yet due to the construction at the school. We will notify you about ski equipment storage as soon as possible. High School students will be able to store equipment at their school as well. Johanna DiCarlo, Athletic Director, will show students where to put equipment. Mark all equipment with your name and town. The Recreation and School Depts are not responsible for equipment that is lost/stolen.
