Chess - Winter Chess Wizards is a premier chess education company providing fun, informative and challenging chess lessons to students. Chess Wizards teaches children many important life concepts, such as learning the ability to win graciously and accept defeat with dignity and sportsmanship. Students will be divided into groups according to their chess experience. At the end of this session, each student will have had the chance to participate in a mini-chess tournament.

Basketball, Men's - Mens Pick Up Basketball Keep in Shape, Meet new Friends, Have some Fun at our men's pickup basketball program. This program is not a league, but pick up play. All skill levels and new players welcome. All equipment is provided. Times may vary throughout the year dependent on school & youth activities in the gyms. RESIDENCY: Only current full time residents of Westboro are eligible to participate. You are NOT considered a resident if you formerly lived in Westborough, your parents/relatives live here, you work here or you’re staying/living at a relative/friend’s house. In all of these cases, you are not eligible for our programs. Anyone found to be using another person’s address will be dropped immediately from our program and will receive NO REFUND. GRANDFATHER RULE: Grandfathering refers to a player/ participant (town resident) who moves out of Westboro but has met certain residency requirements to keep him/ her eligible to participate in a Recreation Department Adult Drop In Program.

Magic Workshop - Kid's Magic Workshop Parents, are you ready to give your child the secrets to magic? This complete Green Wand Workshop (1 of 4 workshops) will entertain and teach your child the gift of magic, working with other children and sharing their new art. Your child will receive, 8 Well Crafted, Kid-Sized, Magic Tricks, 8 Magic Folders, A keycard giving them on-line access to all 24 tricks and 8 videos, A special light weight bag to hold all their goodies, A Certificate and Wand at end of workshop, And your child is taught by a Professional Magician. And as your child’s Magic Instructor, I will demonstrate and teach the 8 traits of a great magician like: Respect, Prepared, Creative and Giving. At the end of the workshops, YOUR child will know how to perform as a Magician.

Social Skills and Dining Etiquette - Children's Social Skills Workshop Present your child with the opportunity to feel self-reliant and confident in any social and dining situation by taking interactive lessons taught by a certified etiquette consultant. Our program is designed to teach children how to conduct themselves on the dining table in a restaurant, at home and when meeting new people. Teaching children proper social and dining skills helps them succeed at school, socially, and later, professionally. Topics include: The importance of greeting others, rules of introduction, the handshake, eye contact, and the power of a smile, self-respect and respect for others, proper telephone etiquette, hygiene and appearance, writing thank you notes, sportsmanship etiquette, how to sit at the table, understanding place settings, different dining styles including American and Continental, appropriate table conversation, what to do with unwanted food, interacting with servers and much more. These skills will help your child to be confident, polished and polite. Some food items will be served during class so that the children can practice what they learn.
