Strength and Stretch is a comprehensive workout class that focuses on strength training, also known as resistance training, to build and tone muscles. The class begins with a thorough warm-up and transitions into strengthening exercises using dumbbells and resistance bands. These exercises are designed to improve balance, muscle mass, bone and joint health, and overall mood while reducing the risk of chronic conditions. The session concludes with core-focused exercises and a relaxing cool-down stretch, leaving participants feeling strong, flexible, and rejuvenated.

For over 20 years the Westborough Recreation Department has supported the Westborough Wallabies, a program of the Massachusetts Special Olympics/Unified Sports.  Westborough currently offers Soccer and Dance/Exercise in the fall, Basketball in the winter and Swim in the spring.  Westborough Unified Sports is open to people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities ages 7 and up ("athletes") -- and to volunteer “partners” ages 12 and up who want to support the athletes learning the sports.   Each season runs 8-12 weeks, with weekly practices and the possibility of competing against other towns. The formation of teams depends on the number of athletes available in each age group.  There is no cost to participants, thanks to the long-standing generosity of the Westborough Civic Club and the Westborough Athletic and Social Association (WASA), among other donors.

Parents report that kids come home from Kids’ Test Kitchen EXCITED about fresh ingredients and new recipes! Reluctant eaters learn that food is safe and fun! And everyone practices essential life skills like teamwork, time management, patience, along with the obvious skills like slicing, measuring, and cooking! On a mission to redefine kid food; Kids’ Test Kitchen’s enthusiastic Facilitators get eaters of all ages and abilities, cooking, tasting, and thinking about healthy ingredients!Kids’ Test Kitchen presents kids the opportunity to explore new or familiar foods in their raw, unmanipulated state. Then, working as a team, they’ll slice, dice, peel, measure, and cook until they’ve prepared the finished dish. Class closes with an opportunity to taste the result of their hard work. Students receive a printed recipe card and the focal ingredient - or a sample of the finished dish - so they can show off what they learned!Even the most reluctant eaters enjoy Kids’ Test Kitchen, where participation isencouraged, and the choice to taste is always one’s own.Lessons are planned to celebrate seasonal produce, whole grains, and legumes.Yes – join us again! Each series of classes offers fresh new recipes to prepare and explore!Kids have food allergies, but they shouldn’t miss out on the fun. We know allergies andcan work around them, making sure that everyone is having fun and staying safe.*Families who have students with allergies or other necessary dietary modifications will be required to complete our diet modification form before the first class.

This program is run by Thundercat Sports and will consist of different dodge ball related games such as:  Doctor, Bombardment, Jail Break and more.  Other games/activities may be mixed in to create a fun and exciting program!   Clinic is coed, please bring sneakers, appropriate clothing, and a water bottle.   Gator skin safety balls will be used to ensure safety and fun.

Are you still getting to know your digital camera and its features?Here’s an opportunity to learn from an expert in this seminar for beginners! Have your camera ready and learn when and how to use its special features - such as program mode, manual mode, aperture priority and shutter priority. Also covered will be basic composition and best use of light for different situations, such as plant, people, macro, and landscape photography.Steve McGrath is a professional freelance Photographer and Photography Teacher who has been creating images for 30 years. Steve began his career by shooting sports photography for local high schools before adding weddings and stock agencies to his repertoire. His love of the outdoors has since led him to focus more on his true passion — nature photography. Many of his images have been published in school textbooks. Heather Welch works as a full-time school nurse in Hopedale, MA and per diem at anUrgent Care Center. She has been teaching CPR/AED and First Aid to the community for over 17 years. She has a passion for teaching others as she has over 26 years of medical experience. Her prior experience as a firefighter/paramedic combined with her nursing skills have enabled her to teach students of all ages and backgrounds. At the completion of the two day SafeSitter Progra, students will be certified in Pediatric First Air and CPR through the American Heart Association.

This program is run by Thundercat Sports and will consist of different dodge ball related games such as:  Doctor, Bombardment, Jail Break and more.  Other games/activities may be mixed in to create a fun and exciting program!   Clinic is coed, please bring sneakers, appropriate clothing, and a water bottle.   Gator skin safety balls will be used to ensure safety and fun.

Programs are offered for Grades Pre-K-12, boys and girls.  Travel players are encouraged to play Rec basketball as well. Slight  variations between each program are listed below.  Registration for all basketball programs will open Monday September 16th at 9am. Some programs may fill!  Volunteer coaches are ESSENTIAL to this program, please consider coaching your childs team. We can help you with practice plans and game management.  In case of inclement weather, all cancellations will be posted on www.westbororec.com. If school is cancelled, rec basketball will be cancelled! Westborough residents only.
