For over 20 years the Westborough Recreation Department has supported the Westborough Wallabies, a program of the Massachusetts Special Olympics/Unified Sports. Westborough currently offers Soccer and Dance/Exercise in the fall, Basketball in the winter and Swim in the spring. Westborough Unified Sports is open to people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities ages 7 and up ("athletes") -- and to volunteer “partners” ages 12 and up who want to support the athletes learning the sports. Each season runs 8-12 weeks, with weekly practices and the possibility of competing against other towns. The formation of teams depends on the number of athletes available in each age group.
