Special Olympics Massachusetts: Unified Sports - Wallabies Basketball PARTICIPANT (Individual with intellectual or developmental disability) For over 25 years the Westborough Recreation Department has supported the Westborough Wallabies, a program of the Massachusetts Special Olympics/Unified Sports. Westborough currently offers Soccer and Dance/Exercise in the fall, Basketball in the winter and Swim in the spring. Westborough Unified Sports is open to people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities ages 7 and up ("athletes") -- and to volunteer “partners” ages 12 and up who want to support the athletes learning the sports. Each season runs 8-12 weeks, with weekly practices and the possibility of competing against other towns. The formation of teams depends on the number of athletes available in each age group. There is no cost to participants, thanks to the long-standing generosity of the Westborough Civic Club and the Westborough Athletic and Social Association (WASA), among other donors.
