This five-week session provides fun, literacy-based experiences that build reading culture. Studies show
that reading–whether on your own or through listening to stories– increases vocabulary, improves
mental health, and fosters empathy. This program is designed to get kids reading, thinking, and sharing.
Whether participants choose to read on their own, buddy read, or read aloud to younger kids, we provide
a comfortable space and a mix of directed and free choice activities that aid in reading comprehension,
social-emotional learning, and critical thinking.

will tap into the rich material of their own life experiences to craft their own writing pieces.
