Tuesdays 4-5:30
Grade K-8
5-week session - 10/3 - 10/31
Location: Hygge House Books, 57 East Main St, Suite 139
This five-week session provides fun, literacy-based experiences that build reading culture. Studies show
that reading–whether on your own or through listening to stories– increases vocabulary, improves
mental health, and fosters empathy. This program is designed to get kids reading, thinking, and sharing.
Whether participants choose to read on their own, buddy read, or read aloud to younger kids, we provide
a comfortable space and a mix of directed and free choice activities that aid in reading comprehension,
social-emotional learning, and critical thinking.

Thursdays 3:30-4:30
6-week session - 10/12 - 11/16
Location: Hygge House Books, 57 East Main St, Suite 139
Award-winning YA author Ruta Sepetys (I Must Betray You) knows a thing or two about creating
memorable characters and vivid plots. This six-week memoir writing session uses the author’s
memoir/how-to book You: The Story as a guide for writing our own memoir pieces. Through reading
about Sepetys’s experience, active discussion, and engaging writing prompts and exercises, participants
will tap into the rich material of their own life experiences to craft their own writing pieces.
