SafeSitter® Essentials class with Pediatric First Aid and CPR/AED Certification
The program follows guidelines from the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Heart Association. Safety Skills: Students learn how to prevent unsafe situations and what to do when faced with dangers such as power failures or weather emergencies. Child Care Skills: Students learn tips to manage behavior that will help them stay in control of themselves and the children in their care. Students also learn the ages and stages of child development, as well as practice diapering. First Aid & Rescue Skills: Learning skills such as choking rescue and an introduction to CPR is often students’ favorite part of the class. Students also learn a system to help them assess and respond to injuries and illnesses. (CPR certification is included in Safe Sitter® Essentials two day program). Life & Business Skills: The ability to screen jobs, discuss fees, and greet employers will set students up for success now and in the future. The recommended age for this course is 11-16 years old or anyone who works with children on a daily basis.
The Pediatric First Aid & CPR course incorporates the latest science and teaches students to recognize and care for a variety of first aid emergencies such as burns, cuts, scrapes, sudden illnesses, head, neck, back injuries, heat and cold emergencies and how to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies to help pediatric victims (infants and children up to 12 years of age). Students who successfully complete this course will receive a certificate for AHA Pediatric First Aid/CPR valid for two years.*
