Cricket is a bat-and-ball game that started in England around the sixteenth century and then spread throughout the world along with the expansion of the British Empire in the nineteenth century. Today, the sport is mainly played in the Indian subcontinent, Australia, Asia, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Southern Africa and the West Indies. Recently, cricket leagues, both amateur and professional, have been forming in New England and other parts of the United States.

This introductory program is sponsored by the Westborough Cricket Club, the Westborough Center for History and Culture at the Westborough Public Library, and the Westborough Recreation Department.
